about

One Last Time is a love story. Lyrically poetic, yet musically firm and melodic, this is another quintessential Lazy Fifty song.

The song starts with a beautiful and haunting slide guitar intro which sets the tone for the rest of the song.

About a young soldier, who could be of any generation, going to war, the lyrics begin with “Wipe your tears away, don’t you be afraid” and continue with the feel of a narrative diary, concluding with ‘And as I lay I close my eyes. I see your face smiling one last time”.

“One Last Time" is a love story, but also acknowledges the generations that went away to war thinking it was going to be fun, but as it turned out it wasn’t.

lyrics

ONE LAST TIME ©athy

Wipe your tears away don’t you be afraid
I won't hurt you anymore
I won't be coming back I know this in my heart
Take these memories away

I was going crazy walking away from you
That was the last time though that I would ever hurt you
I’m not frightened now of what I cannot see
Let me go and set yourself free

Colours splash around me the light it hurts my eyes
I am blinded by the things I see
Crying out for the love from my youth
I can’t feel and I can’t breathe anymore

I was going crazy walking away from you
That was the last time though that I would ever hurt you
I feel the morning coming shining in through the night
I wish I could hold you in my arms one last time
One last time

I let the stillness clear my head
I feel the sunshine warm my back
And as I lay I close my eyes
I see your face smiling one last time

One last time

about

Lazy Fifty Gisborne, New Zealand

Lazy Fifty’s music harks back to the classic rock of the 70s, enhanced with a healthy dose of funk, rocking rhythms & impressive guitar. Our name comes from the saying of a friend. When he asked you for a ‘lazy 20’ (dollars), you knew you’d never see the money again. That was a long time ago and our friend is no longer with us. In memory of him, and allowing for inflation, we are now ‘Lazy Fifty’. ... more
